“Romanian-Belgian Medical Diplomacy” Symposium – AI and New Technologies in Healthcare
On October 23–24, 2025, Brussels hosted the 4th edition of the international symposium “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies on Health: A Romanian-Belgian Perspective,” organized by the Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of Belgium in partnership with the World Health Organization – Regional Office for Europe.
The event brought together over one hundred participants, including representatives of public institutions from Romania and Belgium, academia, researchers, and experts in public health and medical technology. Discussions covered topics such as AI regulation and policy in healthcare, academic and research cooperation, and the digital transformation of health systems.
Dr. Raluca Ioana Teleanu, President of Neurocare and coordinator of the Center of Expertise for Rare Diseases in Pediatric Neurology at “Dr. Victor Gomoiu” Children’s Hospital in Bucharest, took part in the session dedicated to academic cooperation and medical research.
In her address, Dr. Teleanu emphasized the importance of developing applied research programs in pediatric neurology, integrating new technologies—including artificial intelligence—into both clinical and academic practice, and expanding international partnerships. Citing examples from the center’s ongoing initiatives, she underlined how cross-border collaborations can accelerate knowledge transfer and strengthen Romania’s healthcare capacity in the field of rare diseases.
