SNPCAR Congress 2024

Between September 25-28, 2024, the Society of Neurology and Psychiatry of Children and Adolescents in Romania organized in Craiova the 24th SNPCAR Congress and the 46th National Conference of Neurology-Psychiatry of Children and Adolescents and Associated Professions in Romania, events with international participation.

The Neurocare Association was an educational partner of the event, which brought together over 250 participants, 77 speakers, 15 international speakers, and more than 220 presentations.

The main specialties represented were pediatric neurology, pediatric psychology and psychiatry, neurosurgery, physiotherapy, genetics, physical medicine, and rehabilitation.

SRN Congress 2024

Between September 11-14, 2024, the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery (SRN) organized the 49th Congress of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery alongside the 28th Edition of the French Course in Neurosurgery in Sinaia.
The event was supported by the Neurocare Association and gathered a remarkable panel of experts from 17 countries, including 50 speakers, 28 of whom were from outside Romania.

More than 100 presentations focused on advancements and innovations in the field of neurosurgery, offering participants the opportunity to discuss new concepts and methods that are redefining medical practices in this field.

Neurocare Scholarships

The #NeurocareScholarships Project

The aim of this project is to support healthcare professionals by facilitating access to valuable opportunities for professional development.

The program offers scholarships for participation in conferences, congresses, and specialized courses both nationally and internationally.

Since 2015, for instance, we have provided Neurocare scholarships to participate in the EEG Techniques Competence Course in Cluj, Romania, led by Prof. Amzica and Dr. Florea, open to both nurses and resident doctors.

To date, more than 60 scholarships have been awarded to resident doctors and medical nurses.

Project: Equipping the Pediatric Ward with an AccuVein Viewer for Visualizing Blood Vessels in Children

This is a portable medical device used for visualizing subcutaneous veins, facilitating procedures that involve vascular access, such as cannula placement, blood sampling, or intravenous medication administration.

The device projects a real-time image of the venous network onto the skin’s surface using infrared technology.

The equipment reduces patient discomfort and increases efficiency in administering treatments, made possible through the generous contributions of donors.

Acesta proiectează o imagine în timp real a rețelei venoase pe suprafața pielii, utilizând tehnologia infraroșie.

Echipamentul reduce disconfortul pacienților și crește eficiența în administrarea tratamentelor, fiind achiziționat prin contribuțiile donatorilor.

CUSA Device – Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator

Two CUSA devices, essential for neurosurgical interventions, were donated to the Neurosurgery Department of the Bucharest University Hospital with the support of Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen and TNT Romania, contributing to more precise and efficient treatments.

The Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA) is an advanced surgical device used in minimally invasive procedures, particularly in neurosurgery.

It utilizes ultrasound to fragment pathological soft tissues (such as tumors) and simultaneously aspirate them, providing a precise and safe method for their removal.

A Helping Hand

In 2020, the Neurocare Association, with financial support from Banca Transilvania, acquired a mobile radiological “C-arm” device valued at €48,600.

This essential equipment enables complex neurosurgical interventions, providing real-time imaging for increased precision.

The support provided by Banca Transilvania highlights the importance of collaboration between the private sector and non-governmental organizations to support the healthcare system and improve the lives of those facing major health challenges.

Epilepsy Can Be Cured

The project “Epilepsy Can Be Cured” was launched between 2015 and 2016, funded by the Vodafone Romania Foundation through the “Mobile for Good” program. The main goal of the initiative was to support epilepsy patients by providing access to modern treatments, accurate diagnosis, and education to help understand and manage this condition.

Through this project, technological solutions for monitoring and treating epilepsy were developed, enabling doctors to provide more effective and personalized care. Additionally, awareness and information campaigns were organized to reduce the stigma associated with epilepsy and to educate the public about the disease, ensuring patients receive greater support from the community.

Epilepsy Can Be Cured – 2

In 2016, the project “Epilepsy Can Be Cured” was expanded, funded once again by the Vodafone Romania Foundation through the “Connecting for Good” program.

This phase included the enhancement of medical infrastructure with modern equipment used for diagnosing epilepsy and training medical staff on how to use it. Additionally, a support network for patients and their families was created, providing them with valuable information and access to personalized therapies.

Both phases of the initiative had a significant impact on increasing access to quality medical services for epilepsy patients in Romania.
